NIA raids across Bihar for IM manTIMES NEWS NETWORKNew Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted raids across several towns of Bihar, allegedly in search of Indian Mujahideen member Tahseen Akhtar alias Monu in cases relating to activities of the home-grown terror outfit. The raids were conducted by officers of an NIA team that has been camping in Bihar since the February 21 Hyderabad blasts. The raids across Samastipur, Darbhanga, Munger and Madhubhani since Saturday are essentially to execute Tahseen’s arrest warrant. Tahseen, who carries a Rs 10 lakh reward on his head, hails from Samastipur. He is said to be close to Yasin Bhatkal, the man who has emerged as a prime suspect in blasts across Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune and Bangalore. “An NIA team that conducted raids at his (Samastipur) house interrogated his father to gather information about him,” an NIA official told TOI. Two months ago, an NIA team had raided his possible hideouts in Samastipur, but could not lay hands on him. The NIA team had arrested Mohammad Danish Ansari, an alleged operative of Indian Mujahideen, from Chakjora village in Darbhanga in January 2013. Ansari is allegedly a close associate of Yasin Bhatkal. Security agencies claim Ansari provided shelter to Yasin Bhatkal in 2009-10 in Bihar. |
