Satphone commanded cellphone in blast on Israeli car – The Pioneer-21.2.12

S ecurity agencies investigating the attack on Israeli diplomat have intensified the search to identify the owner of a mysterious cellphone number that was found active in the national Capital for 13 days only and received three calls from the satellite phone of a HuJI commander. The cellphone number was active in Jamia area of South East district, Seelampur of North East district and Jaffarpur Kalan of South West district from February 1 to February 13. What has left the agencies flummoxed is the fact that this particular number was switched off soon after the terror attack on the car of Israeli diplomat Tal Yehoshua-Koren at Aurangzeb Road on Monday. It has now been revealed that the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Maharashtra Police probing the 13/7 serial blasts in Mumbai had identified this particular number that was receiving calls from Bangladesh. Incidentally when an ATS team raided Shaheen Bagh area of Jamia to serve summon notices to Taqui Ahmed, brother of Naqui Ahmed arrested for the Zaveri Bazar blast, the cellphone number in question was very much active in Shaheen Bagh. It is not a coincidence that the unidentified bomber had managed to blast the car of the Israel Embassy by using a sticky bomb, the day ATS team f a c e  d   s t i f  f   r e s i s t  a n c e   f  r om   the locals. The last call on this cellphone number was received at 3.32 pm on the day of the attack from the said satellite phone. The satellite phone was found active in Cox Bazar area of Bangladesh and its owner has been identified as a top Harkat-ulJihad-e-Islami (HuJI) commander who co-ordinates terror operations on Indian soil with Lashkare - Ta y  y e b a   ( L  e T ) ,   J a i s h - e - Mohammad (JeM) and Indian Mujahideen (IM). There is a very strong possibility that the person operating this number is linked to the attack that sent shock waves among the diplomatic community in New Delhi. Investigators said that they were tracking down the movement of certain terror modules who could have carried out this attack. They are also investigating whether the attack  on Israeli diplomat was outs  o u r c e  d   t o   P a  k i s t  a n   a n d Bangladesh terror outfits at the instance of West Asian groups who harbour common antipathy towards Israel. Cox Bazarbased HuJI commander is a hard nosed operative and is said to be in regular touch with several dubious persons who op  e r at e   f  rom  We s t   As i an countries.
Highly placed sources said on Monday that what had alarmed the investigators was the fact that the owner of this particular cellphone number never made any call to any other number. He received three international calls from the HuJI commander. The location of this cell number was in Seelmapur area when the first call was received on this number. Its position changed during the second call and it was found  active   in  far   f lung Jaf  f ar pur  Ka  l an  v i l l a ge  of South West Delhi. It was found active in Shaheen Bagh in Jamia area; the day Israeli diplomat was targeted. The wife of Israeli Defence Attachéwas attacked around 3.15 pm on February 13. It received the last call from the same HuJI Commander based at Cox Bazar at 3.32 pm and cellp h o n e   w a s   s w i t c h e d   o f  f around 4 pm  and since then there has been no trace of this cellphone and the person who used it.
The papers submitted for procuring the SIM card have been found to be bogus and also the user had  used a new handset for this. It meant that despite the investigating agencies having the InternationalMobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) no of the handset they cannot track the user. The investigators are  till to identify the shop from where the handset was sold. Sources said there are definite links with the attack on the Israeli diplomat with this person who camouflaged his identity so well that none suspected his movements except perhaps the Maharashtra ATS.
Sources maintained that the person may well have slipped out of the country after having  carried out the assigned task.
