Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s warning on Tuesday that India
would be forced to pause the peace process if Pakistan persisted with
its brazen disregard for the killing of Indian soldiers and
brutalization of their bodies failed to bring him respite from criticism
from the BJP. The principal opposition, which had attacked the
government, particularly the PM, for not being tough, reacted to Singh’s
remarks by asking why it took him so long to hold out the warning to
Pakistan, and stressed that it was the pressure from BJP which had
forced the government to change its stand.
