Nizamabad: Tension prevailed at the railway gate area here when two groups belonging to different communities clashed with each other on Friday noon. Police used mild force to bring the situation under control and section 144 was clamped to prevent further trouble.
    During the celebration of Milad-un-Nabi, a group of motorcycle-borne youths reportedly made several rounds of the railway gate area by holding flags. The locals objected to when they made a show of strength at the statue of Chatrapathi Shivaji.

    As they did not relent, the locals chased the youths up to the railway level crossing and also beat up a few of them. In a retaliatory move, the youths along with 50 others rushed towards the statute and attacked
    some locals.
Following
this, a large group of locals once again chased
away the youths.
    Meanwhile, the police, who rushed to the trouble spot resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob and brought the situation under control. A large contingent of police was deployed in the area and prohibitory orders were imposed, according to Nizamabad town DSP J Rammohan Rao.
