China damaged wall. Army protested – The Pioneer-22.12.11


Chinese troops had damaged a 200 feet long stone wall built inside the Indian territory in Arunachal  pradesh in July even as the Indian Army prevented their attempt to raze the wall.  India had l o  d g e d   a  strongg protest with China s u b s  e q u e n t  l y , Defence Minister A K   A n t o n y informed the Rajya S a b           Wednes day. He said the wall was built more than 250 metres inside the Indian territory in Tawang. “As  per the established mechanism with China, a strong protest was lodged with the Chinese side on the  action of the PLA patrol in a flag meeting (between the two sides).” “In July, a PLA patrol attempted to  cross a 200 feet wall of loose stones constructed 250 metres on our side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC)   in Yang t s  e   are  a  of Tawang, which was prevented by our troops,” Antony said.  The stone  all  built by the Indian Army for protection against the icy winds was partially damaged by the PLA patrol, but it was reconstructed, he said. R e p l y  i n g   t o another question on i n f  r a s t r  u c  t u r e development along the Chinese border, he said, 10 railway and 73 roads proj e c t s   h a v e   b e e n identified in North and NorthEast regions. “Army has identified 73 roads as critically and strategically  important. In addition to this, 10 railway projects have also been identified for development in J&K,  himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh,” Antony said.
