The sub-divisional magistrate and the police circle officer of Mathura were on Tuesday transferred to ensure transparency in the probe into the Kosi Kalan communal riots that claimed four lives and left 16 others injured. Besides the two officials, the SHO of the town, Rajveer Singh, has been suspended for dereliction of duty during the Friday’s riots. SDM Chatta Rajesh Prajapati has been transferred and Samir Verma will be the new Mathura SDM, DM Alok Shekhar Tewari said on Tuesday. Police circle officer Chatta Satyaveer Singh has also been transferred. Anil Yadav will be the new circle officer. Meanwhile, the riot-hit town is fast returning to normal and the curfew would be relaxed on Wednesday between 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Communal clashes broke out in Kosi Kalan, about 45 km from Mathura, on Friday, reportedly after a pedestrian used water meant for some religious purpose
