now under the scanner for irregularities. Kar na t a k a Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Sunday said
investigation into Mahantesh’s murder had been intensified and the accused would be nabbed soon. “It is
unfortunate and has hurt the sentiments of people and the Government,” said Gowda, adding that the family would be given compensation. “The Government is doing everything to provide justice to the family of Mahantesh,” said State Home Minister R Ashoka. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Ravikante Gowda said the police had formed four teams to nab the killers and got “some important clues”. This is the second death of an official of the State Government, after an Assistant Conservator of Forests Madan Naik was assaulted by tourists at Dandeli forest on May 6. Naik was attacked when he objected to tourists feeding
crocodiles at a private resort. The Government has ordered a CID probe into Naik’s death and the police have
arrested six persons so
