Last rites over, Rajbala death still rankles-The Pioneer-28.9.11

The mortal remains of Rajbala Malik were consigned to flames at Butana village on Wednesday. The follower of Baba Ramdev had allegedly fallen to the police's lathis during the crackdown at Ramlila Maidan over three months ago.
Ramdev, senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and actress Smriti Irani were among those who attended the funeral. Rajbala succumbed to her injuries at GB Pant Hospital on Tuesday after battling death for 15 weeks.
Paying tribute to Rajbala, Ramdev said, “This is not an ordinary death, but an extraordinary sacrifice.“ He added, “The Delhi Police acts on the Government's orders.
The Central and State Governments have brought shame by denying the fact that there was a lathicharge. Rajbala has become a martyr. There will be more sacrifices if needed.“
He maintained that police action on the peaceful protesters against corruption was a conspiracy. Ramdev said the police had even conspired to kill him and claimed that Rajbala died due to police lathicharge.
His campaign against corruption would continue in the future as well, he added.
Slamming the Union Government and its Ministers for allegedly brutalising innocent people, the yoga guru said, “A Government is formed so it performs its duty according to morals and the law, but the Congress-led UPA Government has not done so.
I am not into politics so I will not comment further but the culprits will be taken to task.“
Rakesh Malik, the victim's daughter-in-law, told mediapersons that Rajbala's PTI condition had been fast deteriorating. “We are still in grief and have not decided to file a case in this matter. We are not after compensation. We will decide later if a case needs to be filed against anyone. We all know at whose behest police action was ordered on Baba's supporters,“ said another relative of the victim.
Rajbala -a Gurgaon-based yoga instructor who also had been a former councillor in the Gurgaon Municipal Council -had suffered fracture and dislocation of cervical vertebraes with paralysis of all four limbs after the midnight crackdown on Ramdev's supporters.
Family members have alleged that Rajbala received injuries during the police lathicharge, but doctors claim she had been suffering from osteoporosis, which results in thinning of bone tissue and loss of bone density.
