The police have charged six men from Birmingham with a range of alleged terrorist offences including travelling to Pakistan for training in terrorism, making a martyrdom video and planning a bombing campaign in UK. The six had been arrested by personnel of the counter-terrorism unit from Birmingham on September 18. A seventh man arrested on September 22 is still undergoing interrogation.
Police said all the suspects, aged between 25 and 32, were British passport holders. They claim that the accused were preparing, or aiding others prepare, an act of terrorism between December 25, 2010 and September 19 this year.
The arrested persons on Monday appeared at the West London Magistrates' Court which remanded two of them, Mohammed Rizwan and Bahader Ali, in custody till October 24. The two face charges of failing to disclose information which they knew may help prevent the terrorist attack from taking place. Two other accused, Irfan Nasser and Irfan Khalid are charged with attempting an undisclosed act of terrorism.
