Meat No sale in Mira-Bhayander on September 17

Ban on slaughter and sale of meat in the Mira-Bhayander region will be in force on September 17.

The state government has banned meat slaughter and sale on two days. The first day was on September 10 when all meat shops remained shut. Butchers in Mira-Bhayander say that they will follow the two-day ban as per the government resolution every year during Paryushan.
The Bombay high court has lifted the ban on meat sale in Mumbai on September 17. The ban will remain in rest of Maharashtra.

There was an uproar in the region when the BJP ruled Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) on September 4 imposed an eight-day ban on meat sale. The ban was reduced to two days by the municipal commissioner Achyut Hange.
