CM winked at slaughter of 30,000 cows: Togadia –ToI-12.11.11

Hyderabad: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) general secretary Praveen Togadia on Friday alleged that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy looked the other way when nearly 30,000 cows were slaughtered on the occasion of Bakrid last week.
“Wherever cow slaughtering takes place, the police should register an FIR. However, with an eye on the minority vote bank, the Kiran regime preferred to remain silent on the ghastly happenings,” Togadia said here on Friday.

“Since the state government has failed to curb the slaughtering of cows, it is the responsibility of every Hindu to ensure that cows are protected”, he said.

The VHP leader denied that any member of the Hindu community was behind the recent attacks on the minorities in Old City. Togadia also gave a call to the Hindu community to stall the ongoing evangelist Franklin Graham’s event at LB Stadium.

“Any foreigner who comes to India for
propagating his religion should be deported immediately,” he demanded.
The VHP leader also referred to the proposed Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill and claimed that it was a move by Congress president Sonia Gandhi to paint Hindus as criminals.

“Law should be applicable to all people equally. It cannot be framed in a way wherein if a Muslim commits a crime, he will be given protection, but if the same offence is committed by a person of another community, he will be charged with the crime. The Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill is nothing but a draconic Moghul Act,” Togadia said.

Meanwhile, sources in city police said that Telugu Desam Party corporator Raja Singh, who is suspected of instigating attacks on persons of the minority community in the last few days, would be taken into custody when he returns to the city. Police said the situation remained peaceful in Old City on Friday and that no fresh cases of violence were reported.
