The Gujarat Assembly had unanimously passed the resolution on September 27 stipulating stricter punishment for cow slaughter and other related crimes in the State.

The Gujarat Animal Preservation (Amendment) Act, 2011 stipulates seven-year jail term for trade and transportation of beef in the State.
